Helo my readers, Normally I've
seen most of people playing golf are rich or have high standard life. So does
it mean poor or lower life standard people can't play golf?, I don't think so.
But you might have many thoughts behind this matter. After finding out the
truth from various sources, I come with some reasons explaining the truth about
this matter. Before that let first understand clearly the nature of the game.
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in
which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course
in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does
not utilize a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains
encountered on different courses is a key part of the game.
The game at the usual level is
played on a course with an arranged progression of 18 holes, though
recreational courses can be smaller, often having 9 holes. Each hole on the
course must contain a tee box to start from, and a putting green containing the
actual hole or cup 4 1⁄4
inches (11 cm) in diameter. There are other standard forms of terrain in
between, such as the fairway, rough (long grass), bunkers (or "sand
traps"), and various hazards (water, rocks) but each hole on a course is
unique in its specific layout and arrangement.
Golf is played for the lowest
number of strokes by an individual, known as stroke play, or the lowest score
on the most individual holes in a complete round by an individual or team,
known as match play. Stroke play is the most commonly seen format at all
levels, but most especially at the elite level.
The most famous golfer in the world (2019)
Golfer is a person who plays golf,
The following is a list of golfers who have been top of the Official World Golf
Ranking. As of May 12, 2019, Dustin Johnson is the number one ranked golfer.
Tiger Woods has spent the most consecutive weeks (281) and most total weeks
(683) in that position. The shortest time goes to Tom Lehman, who spent only
one week at the top in April 1997. Three golfers have spent an entire calendar
year atop the rankings: Nick Faldo (1993), Greg Norman (1996), and Woods (2000,
2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009).

WHY MOST WEALTHY PEOPLE PLAY GOLF?
Golf is popularly considered a ‘wealthy people's sport’, regarding to the cost of
playing golf. Some costs include the following
but not limited to; the gold equipment including the golf clubs, a golf
bag, gloves, range finder, balls, and other assorted tools. or the sticks are
very expensive. Then there is membership fee that you should have to pay for
playing in any particular golf course. The Golf courses fee varies from one
course to another and can be around $500, this amount is not fixed but may vary
from one region to another.
With advanced technology coming up
with AR (Augmented reality) and VR (Virtual reality), golf can be played at
home too, a portable golf simulator makes it possible. While it is much cheaper
to buy a portable golf simulator and play on it, it is still costly. However,
the rich don’t
play golf just because it is costly, there are many other reasons too.
NB:
Augmented reality (AR) is an
interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that
reside in the real-world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual
information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual,
auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory
The following are few reasons why most wealthy people play
golf;
1. It is safe: Unlike other sports
Golf is not complicated, it requires simple skills and techniques also the
chances or risks of getting injured during a round of golf is very low. For
more safety, one can choose to play miniature golf Atlanta, which is fun and
more easily playable too.
2. Occasional great shots: Most
people can never dunk a basketball or throw a 100 miles/hour fastball, but a
normal man in his 60s may just as well play a great shot and make hole in one
shot. The easy throwing is due to the smaller size of the ball compared to
other sport's ball like basketball, rugby etc.
3. Legitimacy: Not many legitimate
sports options are available to the rich people that offers bragging rights,
safety and an opportunity to excel. The wealthy people care about and want to
associate themselves with things that are legitimate and high-quality, and don’t really care about acing in
something that is not very relevant.
4. The entry-barrier is high: When
it comes to golf, the competitive advantages are experience and technique, more
than agility, speed and fitness these
are the things that the rich people can easily get. And if you have paid for
equipment, lessons and golf training, and the several rounds on the golf
course, then an amateur athletic challenger who has less experience than you
will be unlikely to beat you at it.
5. It is challenging: Many wealthy
people became rich because they accomplished the impossible for their entire
careers. With golf, the set of
considerations (risk/reward, swing mechanics, personal tendencies) makes it
challenging strategically, physically, and emotionally.
6. It is convenient to practice:
Wealthy people have busy schedules, but with golf, you don't need to coordinate
with a friend, you don't need to drive far, and you can practice pretty much
anytime your local driving range is open - even if it's dark.
7. Another reason is that wealthy
people often tend to be very competitive, and hate losing. With golf, the
advantage is that your competition is against yourself, as no one else is
directly attempting or trying to prevent the other from doing what the other
wants to do. Also, a round of golf with family can bring along fun outdoor
games for kids too.
The above explanations are my
thoughts about this matter, if you've any opinion about this article, feel free to leave your thoughts on the comment section below. See you next time!.
