Do you Know the Maximum Speed of Cheetah?

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), also identified as the hunting leopard, is a big cat that found mainly in eastern and southern Africa and a some parts of Iran, the only existing member of the genus Acinonyx. The cheetah is categorized by a slim body, profound chest, dotted coat, a small round head, black tear-like lines on the face, extended thin legs and an extended spotted tail. Its lightly built, slim form is in piercing contrast with the strong build of the other big cats.

The cheetah attains just about 70 to 90 cm at the shoulder, and weighs about 21 to 72 kg. Although taller than the leopard, it is remarkably smaller than the lion. Essentially yellowish tan or rufous to greyish white, the coat is uniformly covered with just about two thousands solid black spots.

The cheetah is one of the rapidest mammals found in the animal kingdom today. I have searched through many books and other allusions to find that the maximum speed of a cheetah is recognized with the speed of about 30 m/s (70 mph). They can run 70 Miles per hour (mph) which is as fast as automobiles drive on the highway. The cheetah can attain its top speed in just 3 seconds!

The uppermost speed ever recorded for a cheetah was one that ran at 75 mph, it is doubtful whether this is an average cheetah speed as most cheetahs which have been documented running were in the range of 60 to 70 mph.

They can attain their top speed in 3 seconds (faster than the majority super cars), and can sustain this speed for at least 1 minute, although they usually keep running at high speeds for about 1 minute and 30 seconds particularly when attempting to catch prey.

From standing kickoff, a cheetah can speed up from zero to 20 m/s in 2 seconds, at a rate of 10 m/s. The majority race cars cannot speed up that fast.

The cheetah is the world's rapidest land mammal, its acceleration would depart most automobiles in the dust, a cheetah can run from 0 to 96 kilometers an hour in only three seconds. Cheetahs are quite agile at high speed and can make quick and abrupt turns in pursuit of prey.

The entire cheetah's body is made for speed, its body is slim, light and its long tail aids it to stay steady. The cheetah’s bones are invented to take punishment. The talons of the Cheetah do not recant, they grasp the ground and aid cheetah thrust off the same way a track shoe with cleats aid a runner start a race.
